Its April already!!!

Just celebrated lil sis's bdae with a BIG bang..Awesome timing too as she just started her 6 mth attachment today.. :))

3 more months till my adorable Auni turns 2..*gasp* Turning 2 already?!! Time just passed sooo fast!! Don't grow up too quickly, my darling.. :(

Some of u who are connected to me via FB would know that I have started my Easter Break last Wed..So this was what I was up to.. :)

Wed: Go to Funan, get lil sis's polaroid camera(her bdae gift!)
Thurs: Go Batam, enjoy a well-deserved massage and I really missed Auni terribly as its e first time she's being left behind..What are e odds of getting a masseuse who is named Aunil?? Ahahaha!! I was speechless when I heard her name, I tell ya..
Fri: Husband took last min leave cos he was so stressed at work that he needed to chill..Went for a sleepover @ missy sis's plc..Some of us swam..All of us bowled..It was awesome..
Sat: From missy sis's plc, we went to Sentosa for my abah's company event..Mainly, we went there to officially celebrate lil sis's bdae(abah got a cool room and we partayyyeedd.. :P) cos her bdae fell on a weekday and we had to wait for Sat to celebrate..Party was awesome..Bdae girl was grinning from ear to ear thru-out which was all that mattered.. :)
Sun: Rested @ hm..Enjoyed some quality famiily time, which is rare for us..

So, have I been busy or whaaatt??!

I got to make full use of my holidays, u know! They are NOT plenty(unlike some are led to believe)..

So what did I do TODAY??

I went to recce schools for Auni!

My abah was free..Mum joined us for the first school and then, she was busy with lots of things, which is one of e main reasons why I had to look for schools for Auni.. :(

In total, I went to recce 4 schools for Auni..Just to make this clear, I only intend to send Auni to school, earliest next year, 2011.. :)

3 were CCs(childcare centres) and 1 was a kindergarten..

I can tell u that it feels weird, going to such places as a parent, and not as a potential employee..None of them knew of my qualifications(which is awesome) so they took me as an ordinary parent enquiring..Little did they know that they were being assessed, based on the cleanliness, the curriculum or u can call it routine(actually all are about the same), how pleasant the teachers are(some are plain snotty), location(very impt!!) and basically the overall feel of the centre..

What I meant by overall feel of the centre is when I go to a centre, I NEED to feel comfortable..I NEED to feel the love for children from the teachers..Hey, I will be paying hard-earned money to send my lil girl to that centre..Why should I send my lil girl to a place that doesn't feel homey and where the environment suggests lots of teacher-directed activities?

So lets get cracking!!

Cleanliness: 5 out of 5 apples
It just opened last March, so it is v.clean..
Too white(white walls everywhere!!) for my liking..
A little too clean..I need to see some mess!! It IS a school!!

Space: 5 out of 5 apples
The place is MASSIVE!! To think the centre is in an office building, I naturally assume that there isn't much space(imagining tiny, cramped office cubicles)..I was wrong!! There is even a playground IN the centre and it is waaaay bigger than our H/D/B playground! Auni immediately explored the playground when we arrived..Hehe!!

The FEEL(heh) : 1 out of 5 apples
I can be biased here cos I can..It has a huge space, it is relatively new..
But I just ain't feeling it..Let me tell u why..
We rang the bell and a lady unlocked the door..She just said, 'Yes?' So I told her
that I am here to check out the place as I was interested to send my daughter
to the centre..All she said was,'I will show u around.'
After showing us around(JUST showing, only telling us what room for what
class and thats all..no extra info and not even asking me anything whatsoever),
my mum asked her if she was a teacher..Guess what she was?
Yup, the principal..*insert blank face*
Okaay, so WHAT if u have Masters(she does, according to the staff
qualifications board) It doesn't mean u know EVERYTHING abt preschool
education..It just shows that u like to study..Bah!! Obviously, she is a
greenhorn when it comes to talking to potential parents like me..She lost me
the moment she ended her tour..Anyway, she DUMPED us..Yup, some men
came..Obviously, they are from the board..She didn't say anything, just walked
off to talk to them and then, a teacher came over and showed us out..That teacher was great..Her aura was fantastic..She chatted with us and played with Auni..Too bad, she is in e
wrong centre..

Location: Near my place, husband could easily drop Auni on his way to work but far away from either parents to come to fetch Auni at 1..

Price: WAY out of our budget..$556.20 for a half day prog, after subsidy..

Cleanliness: 4 out of 5 apples
It is well-maintained..
Lots of mess(kids' mess, which I love!)

Space: 4 out of 5 apples
Voiddeck setting..But I could see that the centre space is managed well..

The FEEL : 4 out of 5 apples
I could work in a place like this!! The environment is so warm! Lots of engaging
communication btw children and teachers..Teachers were helping out to
subdue a crying toddler..The centre is ALIVE..I like it..Auni loves it..She couldn't go
into the centre but she could see how much fun it was..She kept saying, 'Kakak!
Kakak! Toys! Toys! Mamam!(cos the kids were eating their snacks) :P
An admin clerk(I'm assuming!) was very friendly and chatty..She answered all
my queries and even wrote down for me the details when I asked her if she could..
Received a bag with lots of useful brochures from M/C/Y/S, a lil notepad and
a I/K/E/A like pencil.. :)

Location: Far from my place..Sort of in btw both sets of grandparents but they still have to take public transport to get there..Not feasible on foot..

Price: Pretty reasonable..$315 for a full day prog(no half day prog), after subsidy..

Similar to Centre 2..Lots of children's work being displayed..I like!!

Space: 3 out of 5 apples
Voiddeck setting but smaller than centre 2..A bit cramped..

I got a feeling..That tonight's gonna be a good night..Ok! Stop it! :P
Warm feeling all around..Teachers mingling with children..A toddler was
following the principal as she gave me a tour..So cute!
Would like to share that the principal is a good friend of mine and we are ex-
colleagues so I know what she is like and I love her..Biased here..Can't blame me!
I am sure if u know of someone who is a good friend and manages a centre, u would
trust her to take care of ur lil one..

Location: The nearest to and from my place..The furthest from both sides..That means that if I place Auni there, most likely she will be on the full day program..Something that I do
not want cos I am sure both sides will miss her if she is on a full day program..And I
still do want her to be with either side during the day..That is why I am only interested in half day programs in CCs..Family bonding is impt for us.. :)

Price: Pricier than Centre 2..$350 for a full/half day prog , after subsidy..BUT!! The whole organisation is revising the price so it will be higher than $350..

Cleanliness: 4 out of 5 apples
It is well-maintained..Neater than Centres 2 and 3 cos it is a kindergarten..The only
kindergarten which I visited..

Space: 4 out of 5 apples
Voiddeck setting but there is ample space..

The FEEL : 3 out of 5 apples
When we came, there was only the staff around..The principal wasn't around so a
teacher entertained me..Basically, she gave me all the info which I could get on the
net..Sadly, I could only register Auni once she reaches 30 months, no sooner..That
means we have got to wait till February 2011 to register Auni..What are the odds of
any vacancy?? Come on la, school year starts in Jan..Most parents whose children
are born on or before June 2008 would be fighting for a place..Bummer..

Location: Far from my place..This is really in btw both sides(major plus point!) and is feasible on foot.. :))

Price: $163 for a 2 hr prog..

There was one more centre(it is a kindergarten) which I wanted to visit but it was closed when we came..School hours was from 9 to 11..We came at 3..Hehe! Anyway, what I read from the notice board and online is that the monthly school fees is $160..This centre is right under my mum's home and most likely, the arrangement to send Auni to school would be my mum sending her to school every day and both mums fetching her from school on alternate days..Easy peasy lemon squeasy..But I still have to look at the centre first..No doubt it is a small setting but I still wanna have a look..Wanna have a 'feel'..Very important for me!! ;)

So thats it!! Now you know how anal I am and can be when it is anything regarding Auni..Be it her brand of diapers(why buy exp brand when cheaper ones does the same thing and is even softer!), her brand of milk(Yes, she does drink a more exp brand of milk but the nutrients she is getting is way better than other brands and I do save from not buyin exp diaper brand), e tv programs she is allowed to watch(Sesame/street, D/i/b/o, P/o/c/o/y/o..Me love!), the amt spend watching tv/dvds(Max half an hr at 1 sitting!), etc etc..

I have to say that I blame peer pressure for pushing me to step out of my comfort zone with regards to Auni's education..What I planned before is to let her enjoy her toddlerhood at the both families and only send her to a playgroup when she is 3, nursery when she is 4 and kindergarten thereafter..Sending her to CC was definitely not an option for me as I still have both mums available(on certain days!)..But now, times have changed..

Actually, I still find that half day CC prog is still too long for Auni..That is why for now, playgroup setting seems more feasible..What I want Auni to gain from these outside activities is mainly social interaction..Either side is fab for reading to her and playing with her..Either side does bring her out but she doesn't get much opportunity to interact with her peers..

Anyway, where was I..

Another reason why I prefer a playgroup setting is that I do not want to overwhelm her..She will only be 29 months in Jan 2011!!

I did say that I blame peer pressure(4 out of 5 friends have sent their kids to CCs)..I also blame family pressure..It is mainly my mum..

She is such an active lady, I tell u..She is working as a part time Malay teacher, teaching Malay to non-Malay pri school kids on Mons, Tues, and Thurs(that's her schedule for now..will change after she finishes at 10 weeks)..She is a chairlady for PPN(some parent volunteer thingy) at my bro's sec school(meaning that my bro can't play a fool cos she can and will talk to his teachers as and when necessary..HAHAHA!!) So her 'off' days are only Weds and Fris and sometimes she will go for sewing classes..See la!! How to jaga cucu!!!

She complains when she want to go for sewing classes or any other activity on her 'off' days and my lil sis isn't arnd to take care of Auni..She said that Auni needs to go to school and interact with other adults and her peers..She told me that it is better to place Auni in a school so that when no. 2 comes, either side can focus on him/her whilst Auni is at school (point taken)..

So after telling her everything of what I learnt during my lovely recce-ing moments, she suddenly asked..'Why want to send Auni to school, isn't she still too young?'

*insert an extremely black expression*

Me: Wei! U are the one who tell me to send her to school!!
Her: Got meh? She's still too young la! Kesian!
Me: U said u got no life!! Teaching, then off days kena jaga cucu!!
Her: Alah, I jaga Auni only 2 times a week aper..
Me: Alah! Now then u say like this, that time u say, u got no time for ur sisters la, cannot make impromptu trips to JB, cannot go sewing class if Aziq not arnd to jaga Auni, cannot sew at home cos Auni disturb u..
Her: No la!!
Me: Bedek!!!!!

I suspect she feels guilty for pushing me to recce schools for Auni..I think she didn't expect me to really go out and recce..And I too feel that she knows that ppl are gonna talk behind her back, saying how come cannot jaga cucu when only work part time..HAHAHA!!! Takut kena gossip!! :P

So for now, I'm still undecisive..Will need to talk more with husbd..He too feels more inclined towards playgroup setting.. :))

Anyways, this has been fun..I have not blogged for ages! And it feels great to let it all out..

PS: I am not pregnant now..But am in talks with husbd abt no 2..He damn excited lor! :P

March entry: Frenz/hormones

I think I have come to understand that I shouldn't be bothered with some people..Tried to make the first move..Tried to be more chatty..But I think I am being mistaken for being a nosey parker..Oh well..If my presence is unwanted, I might as well don't bother anymore..All I wanted is to know how they are.. :(

Moving along to a happier note!!

I visited a newborn last Sat and oh my gosh, my maternal hormones were raging!! They raged even more when I saw how Auni tenderly kissed the baby so many times and stroking her gently..Auni even said,'baby' and 'adik'..Awwww!!!

Patience, patience, dear me..That time WILL come..InsyaAllah..

Newborn smell is just sooo irresistable..If I was to left alone with that baby, I would be smothering her with kisses..Hehehee!!

For now, 2 babies are enough for me..One is a big baby boy and the other is an adorable baby girl..Both whom I love to death and would do anything for..

Baby no 2, I am sure when you are finally here, I am sure Kakak Auni will be sooo loving to u.. :)))

Many hats

Like many, I am a woman that wears many hats..

I am a daughter/daughter-in law/sister/sis-in law..
I live in my own home..I send my precious daughter to my mummy/mak when I work and I constantly remind myself that I need to be fair..I also make it a point to spend time with both sides..So much so that I rarely get to meet my friends and I always wonder how they are and wish them well..But being human, I make mistakes..When husband asks me about last min outings(when I've already made plans), I get mad..When one side has been favoured more than the other, I get cross..When I do not get to meet my sisters(esp my newly married sis who now lives far away), I get upset..When both sides asks my family out on the same day, I get confused..

Yet, all these are not seen..What is seen, is...
Why Auni spends more time here than there?
Why you never go out with us anymore?
All the whys..
Yet, I feel thankful that my faraway sis has twitter now and we can ketchup..I hope my lil sis gets a data plan soon..

When people hear about me having both mums taking care of my daughter, they told me that I must make use of this opportunity to have more babies as both mums are still strong and capable to take care of my children for me..What I do not understand is that these people are women, themselves!! How do they feel when they are put in such shoes?

How would you feel when you have done your part in bringing up your children all those years and then, now you got to take care of your grandchildren and start over again? Some mums are ok with it..Some mum are not..

4 words: Being taken advantage of..These 4 words constantly play in my mind when I observe grandparents being taken advantage of by irresponsible parents..Irresponsible is how I describe parents who treat their own parents as slaves..I've seen so much that I vowed never to fall in such catergory..Enough said..

I am a wife..
Ever since Auni was born, I admit that I do neglect my husband at times..All are unintentional, of coz..Demands of caring for a baby and making sure the chores(housecleaning, laundry, cooking, ironing) are done, takes a toll on me..I do not have a luxury of having a maid..At night, when he seeks my company just for a little chat, I feel so sad when I do not even have energy to talk to him..Once my head rests on my pillow, I fall in a deep slumber..Even my husband said that I now snores a lot!! Our communication suffered..We fought more cos we do not understand each other's needs..Well, that was long ago..We had a good talk a few weeks back and decided that to make this marriage work, we got to put in more effort..So we must take any opportunity to bond..I am happy to say that I feel like I'm a teen again, deep in love with my first love.. :))

I am an Ummi(read:Mummy)..
I am blessed to have my own lil one..I am blessed that she is healthy, active, chatty and the most adorable 19 month old that I've ever seen(yes, I am being very biased here, hehe)..Sometimes I feel I am not good enough, a failure..When she cries and I do not understand what she is saying, I get almost mental..When I get back from work, exhausted, I feel so hopeless when she is talking to me and I am almost dozing off..I sometimes detest weekends cos I get 48 hrs with her yet I got to do chores..She'll follow me like a shadow and I feel so guilty that I abandon my chores to spend time with her..When my laundry baskets(yes, I got 2) overflow, I cry..

Being a preschool educator, I do know how to 'educate' my child..However, I think people take me too literally..Every child is different..Whatever methods I learn, I must adapt them to Auni's capabilities..I get very stressed when punches are thrown at me..'You studied this, then why...' 'How come Auni is...' Hey, cut me some slack! Like I always say, every child is different..And what I firmly believe is that parents are the first teachers of the child..Education is important..But for now, I refuse to send her to school, cos to me, a lot more can still be learnt @ home and the environment surrounding her..Auni is blessed to have 2 grandmas taking care of her..1 speaks more English than Malay..The other speaks more Malay than English and @ times, sings Arabic songs to her..So ain't she lucky?

Yes, next is the infamous question is when I want to have my 2nd one..So when? I do leave it to God Almighty and I do believe in family planning as well..How contradicting, aye? I believe when the time is right, I will have my 2nd one..When God Almighty believes that I am ready, I will have my 2nd one..For now, my attention is to nurture my 1st born to be best that I can..

I am a worker..
To meet demands of high living standards in our country, I must work..I loathe waking up early(read:4.10am) in the mornings..However when I am @ work, all the negativity disappears cos I enjoy what I am doing..There have been some changes @ my workplace but I believe that I work for a living and not live to work so I chose not to bother about such matters..As long as I work hard, that is all that matters..In the end, all this hard work is for my family..For us to have a more comfortable living..For me to lessen husband's load..At such difficult times, I am thankful that I have a job that I love even tho @ times, I wish the pay could be raised..hehe..

That's a whole load of my chest!! Hehehe..

Just my feelings, peeps..Not intending to point fingers to anyone..

STUPID SUNNY

I am a patient person(I reli try to be!)..Yes, some things do make me pissed but normally I keep my cool..

However, an incident that happened yesterday made me sooo pissed till even now!!

Here are the many parts of that stupid incident..

1st: 'Careers come first, then family'

Only A MINDLESS IDIOT would think that way..
I totally disagree!!
In these times, where families become smaller and outside influences are greater, my husband and I agreed that we work to live and not live to work..We work because we have to, not because we want to..Yes, we do want to provide the best for our family, why do u tink I am workin?! I want to help out with the family finances..
But at the end of the working day, we want nothing more than to come back to our home and be with our daughter..She is the reason why we work so hard..

Families are forever..Imagine when u r so busy at work, u miss ur child's first few milestones..When she starts to crawl..Her first steps..Her first words..Her first potty-training..Soon, she will start school..Then, she starts having friends, we do not wish our child to have the unwanted negative influences..When ur child turns unruly, cant be disciplined, doesnt treasure u..Who do u blame?

So career come first?? Definitely not for my family..All these moments cant be bought with time..Once u miss them, u miss out on these precious moments..So when u r busy chasing your career, what's left far behind is ur family..

2nd: I should be MORE UNDERSTANDING..

Take this scenario..Ur husband falls sick, yet he gets countless emails n calls to settle some urgent work..What do u do? U ask him, 'do u need to do it?' Most of the times, he will reply, 'I've got no choice'..

This doesnt happen once or twice..It happens EVERYTIME he is away from work..Be it childcare leave/taking leave/mc..

How do u feel???

Irregardless of what I say, husband will attend to all the 'urgent' work and in the end, instead of restin, he is still indeed working..

I would love to carry on and dish out all other stupid nonsense but I am too tired right now..

Btw, have u guessed who this nonsense sprouting person is?

Its husband's boss(soon to be ex-boss)..

Thank goodness, husband has gotten a new job and wouldnt be dealing with such a person anymore..

Feverish Auni

Lil Auni was feverish when she woke up today...

@ 5 pm, her temp was 38.5!!!

Sponged her(she was screaming all e way), put fever patch on her forehead..

Now she is asleep, her latest temp is 37.1..Alhamdulillah..

Why is it when our child gets sick, we parents feel so helpless..

Everytime, Auni gets sick, I blame myself..What have I done?I didn't protect her from e rain? Why did I bring her out and let germs in e air harm her..I shouldn't have brought her to a wedding, etc etc..

But even if I do all these, that doesn't assure me that she wun fall sick..

Falling sick is part of life..

But to watch ur lil one fall sick, that just kills me.. :((

Dearest Auni, Ummi reli hope u feel better soon..Ummi has to go to work tomorrow but Wan will take care of u..

Ummi will pray for ur speedy recovery! Amin!

Ok, she just woke up..DH sponged her a bit and she screamed! Haiz..Her fever patch cant be used anymore..Must stock up more!

Need to do some ironing now, hang my laundry and den sleep..Monday's not here and yet, I already have Monday blues..Booo..

A new year, a new beginning

A new year, a new beginning..

We started our new year @ a neighbouring country..Had a homestay @ my uncle's..It is my first time there even tho my uncle has had his 'new' home remodelled 3 years ago..Tsk, such a bad niece I am..

Many wouldn't believe when I say that the house where we stayed was near a cemetery..In fact, it IS facing the cemetery..Heh..

But all's well and I now miss the magical peaceful days we spent there..

No internet, no tweeting..I actually turned off my hp!

Auni had a blast..She kept running arnd the big house and I was truly delighted on seeing how happy she was..She saw cats and chickens/roosters at close proximity and we even fed wild monkeys!!

In Singapore, where everyday she only sees concrete walls, it must be liberating to see nature just by the doorstep..Out of the gate and off she went! Running after chickens, looking for cats, playing with other kids.. :))

My lil girl had her first knee scrape and she didn't even cry..She had an even more horrific accident whereby e thing that attaches her upper gum with her upper lip tore..It was reli bloody and she didn't cry..I panicked like a mad chicken and I still do when I see her upper gum..Poor baby..We still dunno how it happened but Auni's fine..Eating and drinking as usual..That's all that matters..

2010 is a new beginning and I am glad it started on the right note..

Lots of things are gonna change for me and my family..Nope, not an addition to our family..Hehe..Not yet..Other changes which will be revealed in due time..

With that, I end my first entry of the year and hopefully not my last!

Time to go to bed now!! New year resolution is to have at least 6-8 hrs of sleep every nite! And I am late!!

Update on Auni's Bdae, PD, Eid and Wedding

Hehehe..I'm back!! As instructed by Auni Sr's Mummy, I am here to update about Auni Jr..

Two weeks after Eid, it was my sis's wedding!

Though she is happily married now, I do miss her lots..She moved to her new house @ Bukit Gombak whilst we all stay @ Tampines..I miss seeing her @ my mum's and her visits to my home.. :((

Though she is far away by sight, she is always close to our hearts..

My Mum juz said in F.book(yes, my mum is nenek super canggih :P) that she missed my sis..

Hi!

A thousand apologies! :))

In a few days' time(8 days to be precise), my lil girl will be turning 1!!

That is a huuuuuuuge accomplishment personally for DH and myself..

It meant that we survived the first year!! Woohoo!!

Auni has 6 teeth now..My lil pirahna..Her hair is longer and wavy..She can even walk!! Steady la!! She decided to give her Abah a special treat by walking independently on Father's Day..

And yes, she can say, 'Abah'..But not 'Ummi'..Tsk tsk..Favoritism.. :P

As her birthday approaches, I have to say that her party has been on my mind 24/7..I have been planning ever since she was 6 months old..Bit by bit, I gathered ideas..

So when I found out that DH's side wants to hold her party elsewhere, I have to admit that I wasn't pleased..It mattered as half of the invitation cards has already been posted out..And I only bought whatever that can fit my home..

Nevertheless, after deep thoughts and persuasion from DH, I slowly warmed up to the new idea..It hasn't been easy for me to adapt to the new change but I kept saying to myself that all they want, is to help..And I should be thankful..

I think some people might have misunderstood me..I just didn't want to trouble them..I want them to come and enjoy the party..I don't want it to seem like I am taking advantage of their generosity..

*sigh*

That was then..

All's well now..Alhamdulillah..I learnt to step back and open up to new ideas..

I think being an Ummi has mellowed me a little.. :P

so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mum.

having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.

every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

And that they still puke
That the puke is not from being overfed
But because they over indulged
One always thinks that when they are growing up
They will still be your little angel

Before I was a Mum,
I used to think that when kids grow up
They will look after you
That when they get married
You don't have to worry about them
But then they start having children and you worry about them

Before I was a Mum,
I didn't think I would have to be a Marriage Counselor
You think that they are all grown up
That they can deal with their own stuff
But as a Mum you still feel their pain
The same pain as when they first had that immunisation shot

Before I was a Mum,
I thought that my kids would have learnt at school about banking and finances.
But when you become a Mum you become the banker and the financier
Mums will always give, or lend, that extra twenty bucks.

Before I was a Mum,
My Mum told me that your children are only on loan to you that they are there for you
To nurture and look after
To love and be loved back
Just as I love my Mum
And I know that she loves me back
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mum.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mum

And before I was a Grandma, I didn't know that all those "Mum" feelings more than doubled when you see that little bundle being held by "your baby"...

Ok so I am going back to work tomorrow..I am dreading it cos I become v.lemak,staying at home already..Feeling2 desperate housewife for a week has its perks..Hahaha!!

So what has my lil Auni been up to?

Now she insists on climbing onto and then standing with me..Be it, if I am busy in the kitchen, or busy ironing..She will grab my clothes and stand up..It can be a hassle, especially when I am in the kitchen..So this lil girl learnt to stand by holding onto my kitchen drawer handles.. :P

And I am sick and tired of people telling me that my girl is not a smiley baby..Sooo whuuut!!! She smiles around those who are familiar with her(tho she do frown at them too)..I don't mind so why should you?? She is a serious looking baby but trust me when I say when she smiles, its e sweetest smile..

Taken just this afternoon when Auni was taking her nap..I dunno why but when I'm looking at her sleeping, my problems all just seem to be insignificant.. :))

I am very happy to share that Auni is back to b.feeding after a month plus of nursing strike!! Alhamdulillah!! It took me lots of determination and endurance(cos Auni keep biting my *** initially and I had to bite my tongue so as not to scream cos that may make her refuse b.feeding)..I was soo happy when she finally suckled after numerous days of just biting and completely refusing to suckle..I was soo happy that I cried..Hehehe..

So now she drinks f.milk in e day and b.milk at night..

About 2 weeks ago, Auni wasn't drinking well so we went to a baby clinic..I was scolded by e doc as she said Auni was v.underweight..@ 8 months, she was only 6.7 kg..What made me upset was that the doctor just make her judgement on Auni's weight and didn't consider her height or mine for that matter..Can't she see that I, myself am short?? Cant she see Auni's loyot cheeks? Her chunky thighs? Her round tummy? Would an underweight baby have all those??

I had a good cry at home cos I felt like a failure, not able to take good care of my baby..Then, my families comforted me and told me that the doc is silly..Even my teacher told me so and that I should trust my own instincts and that I know best what's right for Auni..

I know Auni's small for her age..She has my small genes..But I know too that she is one very active and very bright baby..I know she is healthy too..That is what my heart tells me..

I did listen to the doc on her advice on how to increase Auni's weight..We had to increase Auni's food intake(since Auni eats well) since as she is starting to drink less milk..

Right now, Auni has rice cereal for b.fast and brown porridge for her lunch/dinner..She has pureed peas/carrots/sweet potato for tea..Alhamdulillah, she is adapting to her new meals..

I will be seeing her paedi @ KKH this Thurs for her 9 month assessment and I know that lady is a nice person..She comforted me when I met her last time about Auni's jaundice and gives me lots of good advice, unlike that silly doctor who just shoots her mouth off..

Ever since Auni has learnt to crawl, I have insanely obsessed with cleanliness in my home..I am afraid she will put specks of dust/hair/crumbs/whatnots in her mouth!!

To curb my insanity, I purchased a kid's tent from I/k/e/a for Auni so that her play area is dust/hair/crumbs/whatnots free..I dumped all her toys in there, even her car!!

Everyone called it, Auni's 1 room flat..Hehehe!! Got windows, ok! :P

Spot Auni!! Sexy bangat!! Her 1 room flat has a garage too..She is such a smart lil one..Once I open her tent(her tent can be fully closed), she will crawl in and play..

Been away for far too long..

Ain't lying if I say that everyday I write an entry in my pretty lil head.. :P

Too much have been going on these past few days/weeks..

In summary..

Me hospitalized from Friday, 13th Feb @ 2 am till Monday, 16th Feb @ 4 pm for severe pain(suspected gallstones..Scheduled for MRI, maybe surgery..Bah!! On a lighter note, lost 5 pounds cos was on no feeds and then, feeds diet)..Experienced the worst case of separation anxiety from Auni and DH..Auni started FM(sobs) cos stock was used up and though I expressed my milk @ e hospital, she cant drink it cos I was on antibiotics..

Now I am under HL..Will resume work on 5th March.. :))

I am constantly worrying about my upcoming MRI..I really hope the blardy gallstones have passed out from my body and that I do not need a surgery..Pls pray for me.. :((

Ok, moving away from depressing news..

Hola!!

I took almost all day to upload the pics from my sis's collection..I cant wait to share them!!

Oh, I am on mc today..The darn flu/fever/cough came back..Stronger than ever..Here, I am blogging with a tissue stuffed in my right nostril.. :P

Last weekend was a blast..My cousin got married!! Why I am so excited about his wedding? Man, he had to wait for 10 years before he finally tied the knot!! How old is he?? 37!!

What took him so long to finally settle down?

Check out my lil nonya with her Bibik..Auni wore that for Raya last year..Amazingly, it still fits her..Actually, it should as she is still petite! Her Wan insisted Auni wore lots of gold so Auni was fiercely guarded that day.. :P

I have been writing an entry in my mind for a while now..

Its time to put it on the blog..

And trust me, this will be a looong entry..

But I really need to get it all out of my chest/mind..

I made lots of resolutions this year..

One of which is to be a better wife..

Honestly, I have been neglecting DH ever since Auni was born..Whatever I do, Auni comes first..When Auni cries and he asks for me, I attend to Auni first..When we both were cuddling on the couch and Auni stirs from her sleep, I will go and pat Auni back to sleep, leaving him alone..Most of the time, I get so exhausted, tending to Auni that I fail to tend to him..By the time Auni sleeps, I will be so shagged and often, I just fall asleep, completely ignoring DH..

So my heart ached when DH smsed me and asked me to spend the night with him after countless failed attempts to be with him..

I looked at myself and I was ashamed..

I rarely doll up now and the main reason I wear specs is cos I am too lazy to put on my lens..Due to wearing specs, I become more lazy to put on makeup..I only beautify myself when there is a special occasion such as weddings, etc..

Often, I will just powder my face and apply some lipbalm on my lips and that's it..

Even my sisters noticed and commented that I am not like before.. :(

I am so ashamed of myself..

So after my visit to the doctor yesterday, I went to shop for a year's supply of lens..Now I have no reason not to apply or remove(I rarely do that too!) my makeup..

Then, I went for threading..Oh my! The pain..I nearly poke my eye into my brain..

When I met DH, I shook my eyebrows(I cant talk mah)..He was so clueless that he too shook his eyebrows..It was hilarious!!! Then, I croaked and told him to look at my eyebrows..Then, we both dissolved in helpless laughter.. :P

Next on looking better for DH is for me to lose more weight..Darn! Even though I have been fully breastfeeding Auni till now, I do not lose weight easily..My break and lunch time is so short that I do not eat proper meals..I will be so hungry that when I get home , I pig out..Then when DH have his dinner, often he will ask me to join him..How to lose weight?! :(

So now that DH's gotten wii fit, I am going to make it a habit to regularly exercise..Not an easy feat when juggling household chores and tending to Auni..But I will try..

I do want to be a better wife..A wife that DH is proud to have..Thus, I will do whatever's necessary..

Moving along now..

I have been hearing disturbing news lately..

Apparently, someone I knew left her baby in the care of her sister who lives on the other side of S'pore..Her baby has been there for more than a week now..

Why I find this disturbing?

Her firstborn is 12 this year and she was finally pregnant after an ectopic pregnancy and discovery and removal of ovarian cysts..
Her firstborn is a girl and her new baby is a boy..
She is in sales so in a week, she gets off days..
She lives with her parents, even though she has her own home which she sold off to buy 1 that is nearer to her parents'..

If it were me, after trying for more than a decade and finally have a baby(what more, a boy), I would definitely treasure the new baby..

Living with her parents mean that her mother is in charge of taking care of her baby and she do not have to ferry her baby around, unlike me who have to send and fetch Auni to and from her respective grandmas..

Then, what is the point of having your own place(now that it is nearer to your parents') when you are still living with your parents??!

So many people do not have the luxury of getting a place near their parents..Some even have to wait till a few more years for their houses to be ready and those houses are far away from their parents..Seriously, what is wrong with her?!

I was utterly flabbergasted when I was told of the news about her..

Gosh..

My aunts simply label her as being plain lazy..

Gosh, there are people in this world who are trying to have kids but she irresponsibly sends her baby away..

Yes, not only she is lazy..To me, she is damn irresponsible too..

I am sure her 12 year old daughter misses her baby brother..

Sadly, there are many cases like this happening around me and I am so sad about it..

That is why I am working hard..I refuse to be like her and some others that I know..

I am working hard to be a better wife for DH, a better Ummi for Auni..

To me, nothing gives me much satisfaction than to see my husband and baby happy..

My husband and baby mean the world to me..

We may not have a car..We may live frugally..

But the most importantly, we are together, bound by love and we are contented with what we have..

For that, I am thankful and blessed..

Ahh..Auni decides to wake up just when I am about to blog now..Never mind..Her Abah is here to entertain her.. :P

Oh this lil cheeky baby is looking at the computer screen..I think she has the making to be a IT geek like her Abah.. :)

So I cant post any pics about the Msia trip except for 1 that is still in DH's camera memory card..

She was the centre of attention/affection to all during the trip..People were actually fighting amongst themselves to carry her..Hehehe!! :P

Recently, there was a gathering of friends and before that, we headed out to Funan to her DH's free hp..

Ate here before meeting our friends..I cannot finish that bomb(I used to be able to)!! Unbelievable.. :P

If you were reading my twitter, you would have read that I wanted to go out yesterday and didn't want to stay at home..So out we went..

To our fav mall which is PP..Alas, ever since we became parents, we actually grow to detest crowded places and shopping isn't that appealing(unless its fussfree online shopping :P)..We rather go elsewhere where there was a nice scenery and not too many people around..So after eating at Banquet @ PP and buyin Famous Amos( 300g!! Yum yum!), we headed out to EC beach..

It was lovely..Auni's first visit to the beach..

Yes, she cried bloody murder when the seawater touched her feet for the first time..Probably cos the seawater was so cold.. :P

And so my lil Auni turned 6 months on Monday..

Boy, time does fly fast..

She is such a lil wonder..

She is learning to crawl now and its so cute to see her raise her bottom(always get a smack from me when I see it!).. :P

I think I am way behind those who have already blogged about the new year resolution..2008 has been a wonderful year..The best part of 2008 definitely is the birth of my princess, Nur Auni..I have been waiting a long time to finally have a lil girl of my own (memang miang, dulu2 masa kecik2 da berangan nak ada baby girl..Bluek!)..

Embracing motherhood has been a bliss though it was a rocky start (a long labour, unwanted C-sect) and there are trying times(burst stitches, Auni's jaundice, engorged boobies, miscommunication, etc) Nevetheless, I do cherish all the time I have with my daughter and I am thankful to the Mighty One for bestowing such an angel into my life..I love her smile, her laughter, her chubby cheeks, her chunky thighs, how she looks like my DH or me @ times, how she wails to get our attention, how she is learning to crawl..How much I love to smother her with kisses and give her bear hugs.. :)

I pray that 2009 will be great or rather greater than 2008..I hope to be a better Muslim, Ummi, wife, daughter/(in law) and friend..

I will end this entry with a fav video of my Mummy playing with Auni..When work is tough, all I need to do is to play this video and immediately I feel much better..

Ok, moving along..

How was your 2009 celebrations?

Channel 5 countdown was so freaking lame..I switched off the TV the moment F.Xie sang..Auni was adamant not to let us enjoy the last few moments of 2008 in harmony coz she wailed and fussed and it went on till 4 am..

That was how I celebrated my 2009, trying to make my lil girl sleep.. :P

Auni is really growing up fast..Today was her first time, eating her rice cereal in the morning AND for dinner!! She just loves her rice cereal!! :)

She rolls and turns and loves being surrounded by her dear ones..Less frowning, more smiling..Heh..

Oh, her gums are itchy now so my poor ni..er..teat has been her favourite thing to bite..Bite, pull..bite, pull..I bite too..My lips, that is..To prevent me from screaming..

For that experience, I made a rhyme..Or rather, I changed the lyrics of a rhyme..

1,2,3,4,5..Once I caught Auni alive..6,7,8,9,10..Then I let her go again..Why did I let her go..Coz she bit my nipple so..Which nipple did she bite..This little nipple on my right..Oww!!

I always sing this after Auni bites..Her response? A cheeky smile.. :P

Ok, gtg..My girl is awake, all cos of some STUPID IDIOT who likes to rev his bike at the carpark!! SO BLOODY INCONSIDERATE!! There are so many STUPID IDIOTS like this one at my place..Seriously, I feel like throwing an egg at them..I hope they will have lots and lots of sleepless nights when they become parents.. :S

Auni's having a lil flu at the moment..My poor baby..I have to give her meds and she hates it..Ummi's got to do what she's got to do, love..

My Auni is officially Cinderella..

Why?

She lost her shoe..

DH and I went out to get our pants/jeans altered..I dressed Auni in a pretty dress/headband/socks/shoes..

I covered Auni's feet with a blanket as she laid in her pram..

As we were walking, I noticed her right shoe was almost coming off..That baby loves to kick about and now she discovered how to suck her toes!! Weeiii!! Don't tell me about the old wives tale..DUN WANNA HEAR!! :S

So we stopped and I put her shoe on again..

Was at the tailor when I discovered that she was clad in socks..GAAHH!!

One shoe was found in the pram..The other was missing..

ARGGHHH!!!

DH quickly retraced his steps..Sadly, we still couldn't locate her shoe.. :(

I seriously do not understand how it can disappear..Auni's feet were covered with blanket..And its the left shoe that is missing!! And I wonder who would take a baby's shoe cos we really retraced all of our steps and couldn't find it..I mean, if I am to see a shoe on the ground, I would leave it as it is as I know the owner will hunt for it.. :S

Darling Auni enjoyed freedom of having no shoes and she sucked on her toes..I had to remove her socks as they were getting wet and she continued sucking her toes.. :S

So Auni is Cinderella but the difference is that she will not get her shoe back..And that pair of shoes was so pretty and it was a gift.. :(

Gave her a good scolding(like she understood) and she gave me a big smile.. :P

I am owing 3 entries..One about grandparents' day(that was sooo long ago! :S), one about my birthday and one about our recent trip..

And so today was Auni's 5mth immunisation..finally..Her appt was on the 13th but Doc was away for a vacation till yesterday.. :P

5 in 1 + Hep B= 6 in 1..

And she had her rotavirus too..

Checked her weight..5.85kg..

Hmmm..400g more than last month..Didn't I feel she is much heavier now?

I was concerned about her weight so I consulted e Doc..We both looked at the chart and discussed..Seemed that Auni has been following the 10 percentile curve and her weight is acceptable as long as the curve does not go below the 3 percentile..

So dear me, DO NOT be so KANCHIONG la!! Bleh!

Yesterday, DH and I noticed that Auni has a lump at her left breast..So I told e Doc and she told me its common..

Its cos my maternal hormone is still in her..

Doc and I guffawed when I said, 'Eh Auni, kecik2 da ada t****?!'

I am not allowed to massage or squeeze it as it will hurt Auni..All I can do is to leave it alone and hopefully, the lump will disappear by the time Auni's a year old..If not, she may have to go under the knife to surgically remove it!! *shudders*

InsyaAllah, the lump will disappear soon! :)

I also consulted e Doc about what to bring for Auni for my upcoming trip to KL..She gave me a med for flu (in case, Auni kena romos rabak by all the S'pore and KL relatives and cries a lot.. :S)

I love love love this Doc of mine..So cheerful and ever so obliging to my endless questions..It IS ok to feed Auni rice cereal now and I can increase her feedings after a week if her stool stays the same, as in watery and a lot at one time..Heh..Yiiippee!!

I am now at my parents' place..My family is on their way back from Port Dickson..How I wish they were around when it was my bdae..And how I wish I could join them..Nevetheless, they ARE coming home today and I am sure they cant wait to romos my daughter..Poor Auni.. :P

Cant waaaiiit for this Thurs!!!

I seriously need a retreat!!! A shopping retreat, I must admit.. ;)

Where is Ummi?

She is drowning herself in her massive pile of laundry..Hahaha!! She is complaining about how can 2 people + 1 baby have sooo many clothes! Ummi, stop whining(like you always tell me) and start ironing! :P

Did Ummi tell you that I have already turned 5 months??

Ain't that awesome!!

Ummi's super happy cos she has been feeding me for 5 months and will want to continue as long as she can..

Abah's super happy too cos he says he can't wait till I can walk and run and play hide and seek with him..

Right now, I am so into pulling people's clothes and sucking them..Ummi grumbles on how she is losing so much hair cos I keep pulling them..Ummi, tie your hair up la! Speaking of hair, Abah is so jealous that I have a lovely spikey hair-do, which he tries to imitate..Hahaha!!

Not long ago, a certain cousin of mine dropped by for a visit..I was shocked!! Man, I was sleeping peacefully in my cot when all of the sudden, I open my eyes and there he was!!

I do not have to drink from the bottle anymore!! For now, that is..Hehehe!! I lup fresh milk!!

Gosh..How I miss my DH so.. :(

He called me earlier on and asked what I was doing..I said that I was online..He asked whether I've blogged..The answer was 'no' at that moment cos I was(still am) uploading some pics..It reminded me of him telling me not to blog about sad stuffs this morning.. :(

Our daughter just turned 5 months..Her checkup(rehab..haha) is this Thurs and her final 6 in 1 jab with rotavirus appt is this Sat..And I will have to go through it all alone(not technically, cos Mummy will accompany me but I rather have your company..)

Darn it..Hate the feeling of loneliness..Let me share Auni's development this far, aye?

She cried at first but soon, warmed up and even paddled in the water..Hehehe..

This Princess is just so precious..Right after I bundled her with a towel when we were leaving the pool, she slept!! It was a cool swim, I suppose.. ;)

I really do want to blog but time do not permit and when I have the opportunity to, I am too tired..

I just can't sleep!!

Darling Hubby and Darling Auni are fast asleep, side by side..I wish I could join them..*sigh*

So how have I been or rather what have I been up to?

I am fine, Alhamdulillah, and so is my family.. :)

Started the week in a maddening way cos Auni was so cranky last Sun till I couldn't go to work on Mon cos she cried during the night(till Mon morning) and so did I..Heh..

She was back to her usual self on Mon afternoon..My Mummy says its just those 'beralih bulan' thingy..Which I still do not understand what that means..Hahaha!!

The piece of good news for the week is that my good pal/blogger friend, Shay-Shida, has safely delivered her baby boy on Thurs, 20th Nov..Congrats to you and hubby!! He is a charmer!! :*

Oh, speaking of babies..

A relative of mine recently delivered her 2nd son..Went visiting on Friday night(seen her @ the hospital so this is a house visit)..The most irritating part was when I just sat and made myself comfortable on the couch, someone asked me if I 'uwek uwek already'..

Excuuuuseee me!!!

Just cos that relative just had her 2nd, doesn't mean I should have mine too!!

Her 1st has just turned a year old!!

Mind you, Auni is just 4 and a half month old!!! I have yet to see much of her growth/development!!

I find it is so irritating when people ask me silly questions like that..Yes, those are silly questions cos they never think before asking!!

If it is so easy to bring a baby up(in the high standard of living country like S'pore), I would looooooooove to have my 2nd asap..

But no!

Everything here is so expensive..I have so much to think about before I can actually try for my 2nd baby..Bills/loans/expenses..

Honestly, I could not afford to have my 2nd baby so soon..

And I do not plan to..

Reason being that I want Auni to be at least 2-3 years old where she is more independent(eg: able to tell me when she is hungry/needs the toilet)..Being independent is important as I am living on my own and I have noone except for DH to help me..It would be easier for us when Auni is at the stage where she can let us know of her needs..

Right now, I am a mother of an adorable 4 and half month old..I am learning so much as days go by..Everything is still new to me and I am growing with the knowledge on taking care of my own child and on being a good mother..Learning about child development and taking care of a child/children during my studies is definitely different from my personal experience of taking care of my own child..I do know that Auni needs more personal time with me before she can have a title of being an elder sister..She is still growing and she needs my full attention..

Unlike that relative, who leaves the responsibility of caring for her 1st to her mom..She did that even way before she was pregnant with her 2nd..How sad..

No, I am not like her..

So stop asking me to BE like her..We are totally opposite of each other..Our opinions,beliefs and how we see our roles as mothers are different..I believe in being a hands-on Ummi and making sure that Auni grows up, meeting the developmental milestones..I care for her education, her health..I have even started an insurance plan for her..Boy, it sure is costly..Cos of that, I am more frugal now..No more online shopping..No more unnecessary splurges..I just can't afford to do so..

I am being really honest here..

Having Auni is a blessing but it can also be very tough..

Well, that's life..

And it just makes DH and myself closer and stronger.. :)

With that said, I can give out a sigh of relief, getting this out of my chest..

Its been infuriating, having silly people asking silly questions..They do not understand or even bother to care about more serious issues in their own family but ask about silly things like this to others..Like the famous Malay saying, 'jangan jaga tepi kain orang.'

And so Auni had her immunisation yesterday..

Rotavirus was given orally first which she wailed and squirmed and wriggled..Poor Doctor.. :P

Next was her 2nd dose of 5 in 1..

My Mummy aka Wan had to hold her down..She cried bloody murder(even before the injection!)..Even the doctor was surprised at my lil girl's strength..Hehehe!! One second after the injection, Auni stopped crying..What a super baby!! She does not have the fear of needles like her Ummi.. :)

As she pushed Wan and struggled when being held down, Doctor said that she is tenacious, which means that 'holding or tending to hold persistently to something, such as a point of view'..I think its cos her Abah listened to Tenacious D when Ummi was pregnant..Hahaha!! Doctor also said being tenacious is a good thing cos if Auni is passionate about something, she will go all the way for it and insyaAllah she will be very successful in future..How can I not be happy when I heard that.. :)

Oh, before she was injected, her weight was taken..Auni now weighs 5.45kg at 4 months and 5 days..Hmmm..She is at the 10th percentile..Should I be concerned? I am now..Should I be more concerned? Doctor didn't comment about her weight so I guess it is ok..I know b-fed babies tend to be leaner and Auni is a girl, so she will not be as heavy as a baby boy, her age..Hmmm..I am still concerned..As long as she is healthy and still gaining weigth(tho not much), I should not be so worried..But still..Hmmm..

And one more thing I was concerned with was when the Doctor saw Auni sucking her thumb..Doctor told me that it is best I let Auni suck a pacifier than her thumb..She told me why..

The nail of her thumb will not grow properly.
The epidermis of her thumb will become thinner.
The saliva all around her thumb will cause rashes on her face(it has already happened!! :( ) and it is not hygenic.
It is easier to wean of her pacifier than her thumb..

I told her that my main concerns with a pacifier are that Auni will get hooked on it and that it will affect her oral(teeth and jaw) development..Doctor told me to use pacifier when only needed and to pull it out more as she grows older..Using pacifier will not affect her oral development..

*sigh*

I have been avoiding letting Auni use the pacifier..I hate it when people tell me to use it due to hearsays..I will only listen to the Doctor..If she says its better to, then I will..

*sigh*

So off we went, hunting for a perfect pacifier..

Darn it!!!

What a range!!!!

I do not believe that there was so many kinds of pacifiers!! Silicone, rubber..Some have age limits..

I spent a good 15 mins going through all the pacifiers till I chose the one best for my girl..

Her left hand was covered with a mitten(one gloved or rather one mitten-ed Auni Jackson..Hahaha!!) and she was given the pacifier for the night..Throughout the night, she kept waking up cos her pacifier dropped out..Bah!!

Today, she was still given the cold turkey treatment..That resulted in her being soooo cranky!! ARGH!!!

My Mummy told me the cold turkey treatment is too harsh..I should wean her off her thumb and introduce the pacifier slowly..

Thankfully, she is slowly accepting the pacifier, only when her left hand has a mitten on..She hates everything silicone, esp her bottle teats!!

After I gave Auni to my mil this morning, I felt terrible..

So terrible that I cried..

My Abah must have thought it is just the usual separate-from-Auni-tears..

It ain't..

Its feel-like-a-lousy-daughter-in-law-tears(plus separate-from-Auni-tears)..

My mil is a good person..She has a kind soul..I felt terrible, putting her down in the previous entry..

This is what making me crazy..

On one hand, I feel so frustrated when Auni isn't fed well..On the other hand, I feel so guilty for harbouring such angry feelings towards her when all she want to do is to take care of her only(for now!) grandchild..I guess I am not making it easy for her either by imposing some strict rules..But it is all for Auni's sake..

I know I should be thankful that I have, not one but two, people taking care of Auni..

Memory lane

Its down memory lane a few mins ago when my sis interviewed me for her school assignment..

What is the interview about?

Jaundice..

I know that subject too well..Too close to my heart..

A few days ago, she called and asked whether I am willing to be interviewed..When I got to know it is about jaundice, flashes of images ran through my mind..Suddenly, I just teared..When she went through the questions to prepare me for the interview, I teared more..

Today, I went to KKH to visit my cousin who delivered a boy yesterday..Her ward was on the same floor as mine, but it is at the other side..I felt the chills and dear me, when we walked past the nursery, I nearly teared..My memory of the nursery is me being wheeled out from the ward when I was discharged, stopping momentarily outside the nursery, waving goodbye to my daughter who was going through phototheraphy and could not be brought to me for one last hug or kiss..So can you imagine my trauma.. :'(

So the interview went on well..So well that when I teared, my sis who was interviewing whilst recording a video of us, teared too.. :)

I guess I still have not gotten through the emotional trauma of Auni's jaundice..Only time heals, aye? Not for this..The pain is too great..Only Allah s.w.t knows..

What I am thankful for is that now my lil princess is jaundice free..Alhamdulillah..

Who cannot resist such a cutiepie..

Its been a while.. :P

Baby Auni's out at e moment, with her grandparents aka Wan and Tok and her Ucu Mok..Where are they heading? Taka! That makes her 3rd trip to Taka this week..We went on last Mon, Wed and now Fri..1 3 5..Sun too? :P

The reason I am at home is to do chores..BLUEKZ!

Anyways, Lil Auni just tasted half a teaspoon of baby cereal with b/milk..Outcome? She ate some, spat out some too..Hehehe!! I can't wait to make her some puree from a book I've gotten as a gift..Thanks, Kak Ila!! :)

My lil girl has grown up..Too fast, I must say..This Dec, we will be going to M'sia to visit KL relatives and to do some serious shopping(hahaha!!) so I had to have her passport done..I have had it with people keep asking me to make her passport..Wait la!! Like I do not have other things to do!! Some people can be sooooo impatient.. :S

To submit her passport application online, I need to snap her pic..That itself was such a hassle!! Put her white blanket over some pillows..Tried to make her sit, she moved to her side..Tried lying her down, she turned her head..Baah!!

She was whiny.. :S

On Sunday, my pals and I went for jalan raya..The big difference is that one has gotten married and 2 cute babies joined the group! Somehow, the group has gotten bigger and smaller at the same time..

Auni's finally asleep so I get to blog for a bit..Hehe.. :)

Here's wishing 'Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin' to my fellow Muslims(including bloggers/blog readers/fans of Auni, Hehe!!) :)

This marks a totally new Raya experience for me..Last year, I was still a newly wed..This year, I am an Ummi..Alhamdulillah..The only sad thing is my Mummy is not back from Umrah yet, she will be back on Friday..She smsed me more frequently now, asking about her precious Cucu..I know she misses Auni a lot..Habis la anakku nanti tidak akan dilepaskan oleh Wannyer.. :P

Can I still maintain the amazing race of going to 10 houses on the first day??

I seriously doubt so now that there are a lot of pit stops such as diaper changing, feeding, etc..Must allocate more time for people to romos my princess..*gulps*

Oh, that reminds me..I must bring Dettol hand sanitiser and wipe her cheeks after each and every romos..Hahaha!!!

This is, by far, the worst night..

As mentioned on twitter, I expressed quite a fair amount of b.milk..

When both boobies combined.. :)

I stored the milk in the new storage bags I purchased..I didn't quite know how to use these new bags(the brand I bought before was unavailable so I bought bags from another brand) so I ended up, spilling some milk.. :S

Anyway, soon after, Auni started crying for milk so I fed her..Not once, not twice but 3 times from the right one!!! And twice on the left one..Is she super thirsty or whatttt!?!!

I am so thankful my body was able to quickly replenish the supply of milk..I was fearful that both boobies were dry as I just finished expressing but thankfully, I could see milk from the sides of her mouth whilst she was having her milk..Hehe..

These past few days have been quite an eye-opener for me..

Why??

I introduced Auni to the bottle..

She HATES it..

ARGHHHHH!!

I used different teats: silicone(A.V.E.N.T) , latex (N.U.K)..

She adamantly refused the bottle..It takes 10 mins (on a good day) for her to battle with the teat and finally drink..On a bad day, she will wail and spit out all the milk which I worked so hard to express..I had a hard time, expressing my b.milk till recently..On average, I could only express 80 ml, max, a day!! So to see her spit out the milk makes my heart(and boobies) ache..*sobs*

I turned to the net and found out that I used the max speed to express, which I shouldn't, cos the cycles are too fast..So now, I am using low-medium speed and Alhamdulillah, I managed to express 200 ml per day..Just now was exceptional!! 160+ ml at one time!!! Weeee!! I had a mild fever and severe engorgement, I tell you!! Rushed home from inlaws(Didnt express there cos I didn't bring my pump) and immediately started to express..Hahaha!!!!

Why the sudden introduction to bottle-feeding?

Its cos I am going back to work soon(BOO!!) and I need to get her adjusted to feeding from a bottle..

I asked a friend how much her baby drinks per feed as he is bottle-fed..She said 4 oz..Wooahh! I do not know how much Auni drinks per feed cos no way I can measure when she is being b.fed!!

So the first time I fed her 60 ml, she drank all..The next time, I increased it to 80 ml, she barely managed to drink all..The third try, I increased it to 100 ml which is about 3.5 oz..Sadly, she only drank up to 80 ml(I nearly cried when I had to throw away the remaining milk)..Today, I tried to feed her 100 ml but she only drank till 70 ml..My Mil told me to throw away the remaining milk..No wayyy!!! Its my precious milk!!! So I quickly fed Auni with the remaining milk when she woke up from her nap..

So now I am quite worried..I look at Auni and I wonder if I am feeding her well..I can't tell cos she mostly drinks directly from me.. :(

I will be working hard the next few days to get her used to drinking from the bottle..Its war, I tell ya..But I do not have a choice.. :(

Darling Auni, Ummi wants the best for you, sweetie..Its already hard enough for me when I am always being asked why I refuse to feed you formula milk..Those people say I am making your caregivers' lives hard cos when I start work, its better for them to feed you with formula..I think it is just for convenience's sake..They do not care about your nutrition, do they? Breastmilk is always best, no matter what..I will strive to feed you with breastmilk as long as I can, irregardless of what those people say..

Like I mentioned to close friends, I absolutely have NO MOOD for this upcoming Raya..

I just have to hold a smile for those who keep commenting, 'Wah, nanti Raya ni Auni dapat collection!'

There is so much to do at home and I have yet to start..*sigh*

That aside, I am left with about 2 weeks of maternity leave!!! *whines*

Thank goodness, there is Auni.. She is such an angel..

This is a quick update!

Saturday: Lots of household chores done, mainly cos pals are coming over..Heh..Here I must mention that I salute DH for cleaning the toilets oh so well (you practically can eat in there!! It is THAT clean.. :D ), vacuuming the whole house and helping me out with my chores..Much appreciated, love!! The iftar was fun, fun, fun!! Ended with playing Wii..Great food, great company..And Auni lapped all the attention and didn't sleep till 1 am..But at least, she woke up at 6 am, allowing her exhausted parents to rest..Hehehe!!

Sunday: Went groceries shopping at Giant..BIG mistake..Such a crazy crowd..Goodness..I am so pissed with people who leave their trollies in the middle of the aisle..Not to mention about those who stand practically everywhere, waiting..If you want to wait, stand at the CORNER, you bloody toot! Oh and we met Afiah!! She is Auni's buddy..But both were sleeping so the mummies had a quick chat.. :)

Today: DH has started his new job..I hope everything will go on smoothly..InsyaAllah, amin.. :)
I have TONS of ironing to do and I better get on to it as Auni is fast asleep..Heh..

Just when I wanted to write a long entry, Auni decides she wants a piece of me..What she wants, she must get..*tsk tsk* Am I spoiling her too much? :P

I am oh so pooped right now..Yesterday was clearing-out-wardrobe day and I put away tops and bottoms which I know I will never ever fit into again.. :(

Put them in a bag to give away to the less fortunate and I too dig out DH's unused and will-not-be-worn clothes too..

That man of mine has TONS of tops which he rarely wear!! He always wear e top ones and forget to take the bottom ones..Grrrrrr..

I realised that I do not have that many tops that have buttons in front which poses a problem when I am going to start working..I need more front button tops for expressing BM!! :(

I cant wait to try on my jeans..Wonder if I can zip up.. :P

Next stop: the wardrobe in orange room which holds my scarves and all our Baju Melayus..

Am soo happy!!!

Did Auni's album, uploaded her pics and I managed to pump out 100ml of milk!! :D

All cos I can't sleep..Heh..

Let me share something with you..

My precious Auni loves her baths..In the mornings, she will get all grumpy and whiny till I bathe her..After her bath, I will feed her and off she will go into slumberland where ponies and unicorns exist.. :)

She loves bubble bath!!

Ok, maybe I put in too much bubbles..I turned the tap onto her tub and went off to reply a sms to a friend..When I came back, the tub was full of bubbles!! I could lose Auni in that tub if I didn't hold onto her.. :P

Heheheeeeeeeee!! There's nothing babies love more than bubbles.. :P

So since the tub was filled with bubbles, you would believe if my Auni came out looking like..

I love the part where there was a discussion about SAHMs and working mums..

In S'pore, I think it is hard to be a SAHM unless your hubby is earning a lot..Double income families are increasing and gahmen are encouraging women to join the working force, boost economy la, bla bla bla..

*sigh*

I would personally love to be a SAHM..

The luxury of not having to wake up early to go to work and deal with certain characters..The luxury of spending quality time with the children and doing chores (this part, I am a little weak in..Heh)..

Sadly, I cannot afford to have this luxury..At least, I shouldn't complain much as I do knock off early..Most days, I reach home by 4.45pm..But I wake up at 5.30 am or even at 5 am if my Dad is not sending me to work(He drops me off as my workplace is along his way to work)..

Now, with Auni around, I would want to have her bathed before sending to the respective home(Wan's or Nenek's)..I absolutely hated it when I was doing my attachment and I see parents sending their kids to the childcare, in their PJs and the toddlers are still in their soiled diapers..The parents are decently dressed in crisp shirts/blouses/pants/skirts with perfume when their kids are smelly, armed with crusts around their eyes and smelly breaths..Puii!! I wouldn't want to be like those parents..

*sigh*

I have yet to plan a roster for my Mummy and MIL..How now, brown cow??..

I will have to start planning soon..Must bear in mind not to be biased.. :(

Lets move on to happier things, shall we? :)

This precious cupcake of mine absolutely hate her BabyBjorn when we first tried it on her..She wailed and wriggled and boy, we got irritated..It was a gift from her Aunty Dila and it ain't cheap!!

So on Sunday, we tried it again on her..Amazingly, she loved it..Or rather she didn't wail, squirm or wriggled..She looked so cozy in it that she in fact slept in it!!!

DH had a lovely time, using the BabyBjorn while playing the computer game.. :P

We went out, shopping @ Giant and DH had the pleasure of carrying Auni in it..When it was time to go to JL sale(its cos of you, PutriAz! I read your blog ant the JL sale!! :P), I insisted to carry Auni in it!!

DH said I looked like a hutchback.. :( But I felt great!! My hands were free for shopping although I couldn't help but to cradle Auni's back and bottom.. :P

Bottomline, I love love love love love it!! :)

Now I am in love with my Princess's smiles!! She used to smirk but now she can smile when someone talks to her and her smiles are soo adorable!! *love*

Auni: Ummi lambat pakaikan baju! Dia sengaja nak tunjukkan kemontelan Auni! :P

Pardon my hiatus..

Being an full time Ummi is not an easy feat..Now that my Mummy's not staying with me anymore, its harder to have my own personal time to do my own thing..I've learnt how to bathe Auni in the mornings..Evening baths I have learnt long ago.. :)

Right now, I am having back pains..My stitch area is getting more itchy!! I can't do anything cos its being covered due to the dressing.. :(

I am trying to blog as fast as I can now cos both Mummy & Mil are here and Auni's asleep..Hehe..

So lets start the battle of Baby Auni VS Baby Harith! :)

They absolutely do not want to acknowledge each other.. :P

Auni: Where are they placing me?? Its smelly!
Harith: Hmmm..Suddenly my back feels heavier..

Auni: Ummi!! Anybody!! Take me away!!

Auni: He is so smelly, he is hard as a rock..I dun liiiikke!!
Harith: Such a whiner.. :P

Auni: Am I on a horse now?
Harith: Hmmm..My back definitely feels heavier now..

Auni: Hmmm..I am starting to enjoy this ride..
Harith: I think someone is on me..Hmmm..Who?

Sunat and ear piercing

Brace yourself..

I took a whole day yesterday to upload the gazillion pictures I took with my camera..

On Friday,
the day when Auni turned a month old, her Abah and Ummi went out to Poly and then to TM/CS..I wanted to get her a gift..Must give present for turning a month old..Hehehe..But I couldn't find a suitable gift, and my Mummy banned me from buying her clothes (she has too many!!)..Boo!! Anyways, it was a time well spent and I got to use the nursing room in CS..I like it! :)

For the life of mine, I cannot remember what I did on Saturday..

Moving on to Sunday!

DH had assignments to do so I followed my parents and aunt to a wedding..Not to fear, I stayed in the car..There's this thing about 'sawan pengantin' which the elders were talking about..Apparently, an infant who goes to a wedding, will get fits..Treatment? The wedded couple must kiss the infant or spit on his/her head..NO WAY I am going to allow my daughter to be spat at..*Phuii!!*

My hordes of relatives who went to the wedding, got to know I was in the car with Auni..There was almost a stampede when they came rushing to the car..Hehehe!! Who could blame them? They wanted to see Auni's new do.. :P

After the wedding, we fetched DH and sent my parents/aunt home and used the car to go to a certain baby's cukur rambut..

Baby Farhyn!!

I have yet to see him..He was born 5 days after Auni..His Ummi and I were supposed to be induced on the same day! But Auni wanted to come out earlier..Cheet! :P

First time Ummis and their babies.. :)

It seemed so surreal..Just a few years ago, we were in our school uniform, going to band practice, etc..Now we are both married with a baby.. :)

I love meeting up with my old buddies and ketchup..Bibik Kart couldn't resist romosing Auni..Bibik Baz insisted on carrying her, only to abruptly return her to me when Auni started to menggeliat..Hahaha!! Aper dah!! :P

On Monday, we fixed an appointment with my doctor to have Auni circumcised and to have her ears pierced..Ok, the ear piercing thingy was a last min decision cos only when we were at the clinic, we found out the doctor does ear piercing..I have discussed with DH that I would want to have Auni's ears pierced asap..So since we were already there, why not!! :P

I am such a scaredy cat!!

The moment we went in the doctor's room, Auni was placed on the bed..I turned 360 degrees and faced away!! My Mummy assisted the doctor and my MIL watched..Her diaper was removed, she was cleaned and new diaper was placed under her bottom..Soon, I heard the doctor said, 'ok sudah'..

I was like -_-"

Done?

Then, Auni whimpered..Poor baby.. :(

She is a brave girl..Not only she didn't wailed..She only whimpered for a few seconds..

Then the doctor showed us a few sets of earrings and asked us to choose a pair for Auni..My Mummy chose a dainty pink pair..

My poor baby being prepared for her ear piercing right after her circumcision.. :(

She actually went back to sleep!! She didn't know what's going to happen next!! Doctor told Mummy to hold Auni in that way..

The doctor firmly said that once she pierce one ear, she needs to pierce her other ear immediately as Auni will definitely cry and we cannot pacify her till its over..

O.O

My eyes opened real big and my heart started beating so fast after I heard that..

Then it started..

Oh.my.goodness.

I NEVER heard my daughter cried that loudly before..Once her ear was pierced, Auni screamed bloody murder!!! Her Ummi? Nearly fainted..

Immediately Mummy turned Auni to the other side and her other ear was pierced..

Auni?
Still screaming bloody murder..

My Mummy/Wan?
Coo-ed her..

My MIL/Nenek?
Pale as a ghost..

Me/Ummi?
Nearly kissed the floor..

Doctor told us not to remove her ear piercings for a month as the holes will close asap if we do..And it is best we do not change her studs until she's older..If we are scared to do so, do not even attempt..Heh..Oh, we do not need to worry about infections..Its all already been medicated..And we do not need to apply oils/creams onto her ears..

Auni was still screaming bloody murder when we left the doctor's room..I think we scared 2 families who were with babies at the waiting area..The look on their faces? Priceless!! One family was so distraught, they immediately approached my Mummy and MIL, asking what happened..Hehehe!!

My poor baby..

Once we went out of the clinic, Auni had stopped crying and went back to sleep with a 'mencebik' look..Alahai..Kesian anak Ummi..My darling, I rather do this when you are still small..

As a treat for her bravery, I brought her out with her bibiks..

After a traumatising morning, she was fine in the afternoon.. :)

I didn't dare to change her diaper..My sis did and there was no blood stains on her diaper..Just some streaks of dried blood at her private part and that's it..Phew!!

A grumpy but quiet Auni..Hehehe..

By late afternoon, my Auni was her old self again.. :)

Auni would be relieved to know I would not inflict anymore pain onto her, other than sending her to the doctor for her immunisations.. :P

Alright, my eyes are half closed and I can hear Auni moving and grunting(oh yes, she does grunts a lot and she does it loudly! :P)..
